Awarded to a Personal Project with a particularly thoughtful exploration of a STEM Topic.
Awarded to: Vihaan Seth
Jury: The jury evaluated each submission based on technical rigour, the depth of the scientific inquiry cycle, and the innovative application of STEM principles to real-world challenges. Vihaan’s AI-powered organizational assistant demonstrated a smooth integration of Google Calendar and Task to streamline student self management skills. Through a cycle of coding, testing, and iterative refinement, Vihaan exhibited technical proficiency and a systematic approach to problem-solving. This project serves as a practical example of AI innovation that creates a functional tool for the student community.
Awarded to a Personal Project particularly born out of personal passion.
Awarded to: Lara Mentschel
Jury: This project is a moving testament to the power of personal inquiry, earning the Passion Award for its deeply felt exploration of the historical ties between Germany and Vietnam. Through the intimate lens of portrait photography, the student captured more than just faces; they documented the living legacy of a complex, cross-cultural heritage. The jury was struck by the sensitivity of each composition, which reflected a profound commitment to understanding how global history shapes individual identity. This work serves as a beautiful reminder that when research is fueled by a genuine personal quest, the resulting art resonates with an unmistakable and soulful authenticity.
Awarded to a Personal Project with a particularly impressive application of Approaches to Learning skills.
Awarded to: Haeun Roh
Jury: Haeun completed a thoughtful inquiry into financial scams that impact teenagers and young adults, combining a personal interest with strong practical research and a great intrinsic motivation to learn. She created a board game to warn and teach in a playful way. Haeun met every intermediate deadline in the project and produced outstanding quality work every step of the way. Her work was often used as example material for others. Due to personal circumstances, Haeun started her project significantly later than her peers. Haeun demonstrated exceptional proficiency in all AtL skills and embodies the IB Learning Profile.
Awarded to a Personal Project with a particularly thoughtful exploration of an aspect of the Arts.
Awarded to: Pham Phuc
Jury: The jury is pleased to present the Arts Award to this project for its exceptionally thoughtful exploration of visual storytelling through mixed media. By leveraging the technical complexities of Adobe After Effects, the student successfully blended disparate textures and motion styles into a cohesive, evocative animation. The work stands out not only for its digital proficiency but for the artistic maturity shown in balancing abstract concepts with fluid, rhythmic pacing. This project serves as a masterful example of how modern software can be used as a canvas for profound, multi-layered creative expression.
Awarded to a Personal Project with a particularly high impact on our UNIS community.
Awarded to: Helena Lindgren
Jury: Helena’s project stands out for its rigorous scientific foundation, establishing a comprehensive certification system that tracks chemical usage throughout the entire lifecycle of a garment. By bridging the gap between complex environmental chemistry and everyday consumer choices, she has provided a tangible framework for evaluating the safety and sustainability of the fabrics we wear. The jury was particularly impressed by how this work transcends the classroom, actively challenging our community to confront the hidden costs of fast fashion and adopt more intentional purchasing habits. For her dedication to both technical excellence and social responsibility, we are proud to present Helena with the Community Award.
